Day 2 (Oct 2, 2012) : Field Trips to the Healthcare Facilities in Pendang

Mr. Kasman arranged a field trip for us to Pendang District, introducing the healthcare facilities in Pendang to us. According to Mr. Kasman, there had been a flood in Pendang recently and hence we were given chance to visit to a nearby flood relieve center.

Firstly, we were taken to the flood relieve center. It was the 3rd day when we visited to the center. It provided shelter, food, water and medication for the flood victims. The common medications which were given to the patients for diarrhea,  fever, skin diseases, UrTI. The health officers also provided medication for those victims with DM, HT and asthma who did not bring their medications during evacuation. Any emergency cases will be referred to hospital.

After visiting the flood relieve center, we were taken to the health facilities in Pendang district: the Clinic 1 Malaysia and Klinik Desa Tanah Merah.  We met the person in charge in the clinic and he explained us on the operation in the clinic, operating hours, the organization of the clinic and services provided in the clinic. Similarly, in Klinik Desa, we met the community nurse and she explained the services they provided for the public as well.
